BRIEF// I was asked to consult for Woodslane Publishing on how to utilise Media Relations to promote their range of Australian Walking Guides.
SOLUTION// I worked directly with the Marketing Manager at Woodslane to identify the books target market then establish the information channels most effective at reaching this audience. I then built a media contact list and crafted several targeted media releases complete with author quotes and interesting discoveries with the aim of producing a syndicated article rather than a product announcement. I followed up each of these releases with the editor in a manner that aims to produce a long-term relationship rather than short-term exposure.
The Result: We achieved good buy-in in our target publications, earning mentions in The Sydney Morning Herald as well as securing promotions and giveaways in several specialty publications.
NOTE// I had previously worked for Woodslane Publishing as an Account Manager and have since consulted on smaller projects such as User Interface Design for their eCommerce sites.
